Caption: Taken on May 19,2007, this images shows a portion of China's Jiangxi Province as it looks under normal circumstances. Compare this to image bh5847 taken on June 6th, less than one month later, after heavy rain caused widespread flooding. The floods destroyed about 2,000 houses, and caused an economic loss of approximately $13 million. Both images were made with a combination of infrared and visible light, which makes water appear black or dark blue. Plant-covered land is bright green, bare earth is tan, and clouds are light blue and white.
