Caption: Argan tree (Argania spinosa). The nuts of this tree are the source of argan oil, an oil used for its nutritional, cosmetic and medicinal properties. The argan tree is endemic to south-western Morocco, and the oil is produced by traditional means by the Berber population in the region. The nuts are cracked to obtain the seeds, which are roasted and ground to extract the oil. This tree can grow to 8 to 10 metres high, and can live for 150 to 200 years. Photographed in Morocco.
