Cryptosporidium parvum is an apicomplexan protozoan that can cause respiratory and gastrointestinal infections called cryptosporidiosis. The infection primarily involve watery diarrhoea (intestinal cryptosporidiosis) with or without a persistent cough (respiratory cryptosporidiosis). It is prevalent in both immunocompetent and immunodeficient patients. Magnification: x2,450 when shortest axis printed at 25 millimetres.
