Caption: Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of Brown dog tick larva (Rhipicephalus sanguineus). A blood sucking arachnid that has specialized mouthparts for sucking. Although R. sanguineus will feed on a wide variety of mammals, dogs are the preferred host. In the US, R. sanguineus is a vector of disease in dogs.
