Caption: Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of Moraxella osloensis, gram-negative, aerobic, lactose-non-fermenting, coccoid or coccobacillus bacterium. It is part of the human flora, especially the upper respiratory tract and occasionally of the skin and urogenital tract. M. osloensis has been implicated in a variety of infections, which include: conjunctivitis, wound sepsis, vaginal discharges, meningitis, brain abscess, septicaemia, endocarditis, arthritis osteomyelitis and urethritis. M. catarrhalis is another species that is pathogenic in humans. Magnification: x4,000 when shortest axis printed at 25 millimetres.
