Campylobacter are a genus of bacteria that are responsible for a number of food-borne illnesses. The most common forms are C. jejuni and C. coli. Candidate bacteria are placed in the centre of a petri dish containing Campylobacter. Those that out-compete this pathogen form a clear zone of inhibition (dark circle, centre of petri dish).
