Caption: German bacteriologist Paul Ehrlich (1854-1915) performing a set test pattern for chemotherapy with salvarsan (a synthetic drug used against syphilis). Ehrlich was a pioneer in hematology and chemotherapy, and produced a treatment for syphilis. In 1908 he was the joint winner of the Nobel Prize for Medicine.
