Rhodosporidium fluviale is a homokaryotic red pigmented yeast that was discovered in a brackish water environment. Homokaryotic refers to the cells being multinucleate (all nuclei being genetically identical). The genus Rhodosporidium belongs to the basidomycetous yeast group that also are characterized by having teliospores. Magnification: x1,200 when shortest axis printed at 25 millimetres.
