Caption: Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of Long-nosed cattle louse egg case (Linognathus vituli). Eggs are laid in egg cases that are attached to the body hair. Also called the blue cattle louse, it is a common external parasite (sucking louse) of cattle that can cause serious damage if it occurs in high frequency. Cattle will lick, scratch and rub affected areas excessively. Anaemia can occur with increasing chances of other infectious diseases. Magnification: x22 when shortest axis printed at 25 millimetres.
