Caption: Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of Polyxenid millipede (bark dweller). Note the dense body trichomes (Polyxenus sp.). Polyxenus is a genus of millipede, known as the bristly millipede, in the family Polyxenidae. It is a millipede found in many areas of Europe and North America. It is a unique genus of millipedes that are covered with detachable bristles. The bristles can entangle ants and spiders that attack them thus thwarting an attack.
