Caption: Comb jelly (Beroe forskalii) with hyperiid parasites. Comb jellies are jellyfish-like organisms that take their common name from their rows of hair-like cilia, which they beat to propel them through the water. They are found in seas throughout the world but are not true jellyfish as they lack the characteristic stinging cells (cnidocytes). The Hyperiidea are amphipods, small aquatic crustaceans, many of which are predators or parasites of jellyfish and salps.
