Caption: Quantum computing research. IBM researchers loading up the hardware inside the cryogenic dilution refrigerator that is home to a five-qubit superconducting quantum computing device. Quantum computers, which are under development, are based on quantum mechanics and the principle of representing information using quantum properties. This has the potential to massively increase computing power. A qubit is a quantum bit. IBM scientists in Zurich, Switzerland, working with colleagues at IBM's TJ Watson Lab in New York, are building their own quantum research laboratory. Photographed in February 2016, at IBM-Zurich, Switzerland.
