Caption: Coryphantha sulcata is known as the finger cactus or nipple cactus. Both names refer to the fleshy tubercles of which its stem is composed. Except when in bloom this common cactus of central and southern TX forms inconspicuous mounds among prairie grasses and open juniper woodlands. Because of its greater moisture tolerance than true desert-dwelling cactus, it one of the easiest cactus to grow in cultivation.
