Caption: ALEPH particle detector. Technicians checking wiring on the interior of the ALEPH experiment detector at CERN, the European particle physics laboratory near Geneva. At right is the end of the calorimeter section of the detector used to measure the energy of electrons, photons and hadrons coming from high-energy particle collisions. At left is the end cap of the experiment which is moved back into position against the detector after maintenance. ALEPH is one of four major experiments on the Large Electron Positron (LEP) collider ring at CERN.
