Caption: Common furniture beetle (Anobium punctatum) on a piece of wood, near a number of holes. The holes are formed by the tunnelling larvae (woodworm) of the beetle. These burrow into the wood after hatching from eggs laid in cracks or existing holes in the surface. The adults emerge in mid-summer, leaving the characteristic holes behind.
