Caption: Becvar's star atlas. Constellations of part of the northern hemisphere, with other astronomical objects, as depicted in Atlas Coeli Skalnate Pleso (1951). This star atlas, published by the Czech astronomer Antonin Becvar (1901-1965), was the most advanced of its time for 30 years. It included double stars, novae, supernovae, radio-sources, globular and galactic clusters, galaxies, nebulae, the shape of the Milky Way (light blue), and the borders of constellations (labelled with their names).
