Caption: Barred spiral galaxy NGC 613, optical image. This galaxy is in the constellation Sculptor, 65 million light years from Earth. The bright areas near the ends of the central bar (diagonally from top right to bottom left) are star birth regions. NGC 613 is over 100 thousand light years across and has a massive black hole at its centre. Image obtained from the Melipal and Yepun telescopes, part of the Very Large Telescope (VLT) array at the Paranal Observatory, Chile.
