Caption: Zakros Gorge. This ravine in eastern Crete is known as Faragi ton Nekron (Greek for 'Gorge of the Dead'), as it contains caves that were used as Ancient Minoan burial tombs. It is also one of the most impressive gorges in Crete due to its steep sides and unusual rock formations.
