Caption: Mildred Adams Fenton (1899-1995) , American palaeontologist. Fenton trained in palaeontology and geology at the University of Iowa. With her husband, Carroll Lane Fenton, she wrote a series of papers comparing the traces made by modern organisms with particular ichnofossils (fossil traces such as footprints and burrows). She co-authored many science books with her husband, including 'Records of Evolution' (1924), 'Land We Live On' (1944), and 'Worlds in the Sky' (1963).
