Caption: Yellow fever fumigation. Buildings along a street in Santiago de Cuba are covered with canvas prior to fumigation, January 1908. Yellow fever is transmitted by mosquitoes, and fumigation was used to try and eradicate mosquitoes in populated areas. Various such public health measures were implemented in an attempt to control epidemics of the disease.
