Caption: Colon cancer cells, fluorescence light micrograph. This study shows cellular proteins, with cell DNA shown in blue and other colours showing other proteins, including the fibrous protein laminin. Mutations leading to abnormal cell motility can cause cancer cells to invade other tissues (metastasis). Study of the mechanisms by which cancer cells move through the body (including the function of cytoskeletal proteins) may lead to targeted therapies that reverse these processes.
