Caption: Breast cancer treatment. Image 2 of 2. Combined computed tomography (CT) and positron emission tomography (PET) scan of a breast cancer patient after treatment by chemotherapy. This is an axial scan, passing horizontally through the body at the level of the chest. The heart is at centre. The cancerous area is no longer present. This is 2-18F-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (FDG) positron emission tomography. FDG is a radioactive tracer that can be used to identify cancer sites. For the same patient scanned before treatment, see image C001/7583.
