Caption: Anti-hair loss drug. Screen display showing a computer model of the anti-hair loss drug Aminexil. Aminexil has the chemical formula 2,4- diaminopyrimidin-3-oxide (C4.H6.N4.O). The spherical atoms are colour-coded: oxygen (red), nitrogen (dark blue), carbon (white) and hydrogen (light blue). The coloured grids mark areas of high electron density. Aminexil is thought to stop the stiffening of the hair roots during accelerated aging. This rigidity restricts the blood supply to the hair follicle, resulting in hair loss. Photographed at the Laboratoire de L'Oreal, Clichy, near Paris, France.
