Caption: Secondary bone cancer. Coloured three dimensional computed tomography (CT) scan of a pelvis with secondary bone cancer. Bone degeneration is seen in the ischial (centre) and iliopubic (upper left) regions of the pelvis. This degeneration is due to the cancer, which has metastasised (spread) from the primary site in another organ. The spread of cancer to the bones causes great pain and increases the likelihood of bone fractures. The prognosis is poor. Treatment is with chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
