Caption: Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Combined frontal computed tomography (CT) and positron emission tomography (PET) scans of a patient with tumours (red/pink) in the abdomen due to non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). Lymphoma is a malignant (cancerous) growth of white blood cells (lymphocytes). There are many types of lymphoma depending on the cells affected. NHL can affect anyone, although it is more prevalent in men and those over 40. Its cause is not known. The PET scan used here is 2-18F-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (FDG) positron emission tomography.
