Caption: MODEL RELEASED. Prostate cancer radiotherapy surgery. Surgeon inserting radioactive sources into a patient's prostate gland. The radioactive sources are being implanted using needles inserted through a template (black square), through the perineal skin, and then guided to the prostate gland using a trans-rectal ultrasound probe. This implantation of radioactive sources is a procedure known as brachytherapy, a form of radiotherapy. The radiation from the radioactive sources kills the cancerous cells.
