Caption: Allium ursinum is known as Broad-Leaved Garlic, Wild Garlic, Ramsons, Wood Garlic and Roman Garlic. It can be found in damp woods, hedges, shady damp meadows and streamsides. Associated with ancient woodland. The leaves, flowers and bulbs are all edible, having a strong taste and smell of garlic. Containing essential oils, vitamin C, iron and allicin, it is reputed to have medicinal properties for the treatment of asthma, high blood pressure, digestive problems and rheumatism.
