Caption: MODEL RELEASED. Necrotising pancreatitis surgery. Surgeons carrying out an emergency laparotomy (surgery inside the abdomen). The patient was found to have necrotising pancreatitis, a condition where the pancreas tissue turns necrotic (is dead or dying) due to lack of blood supply or infection. In this case, it is due to pancreatitis, the inflammation of the pancreas. For a close-up of this operation, see C001/8185.
