Caption: Gall bladder, post-mortem. The gall bladder is the pear-shaped organ at lower centre. The dark pink tissue behind it is the underside of the liver. This is a healthy gall bladder. One of the functions of the liver is to produce bile, a liquid that is used to digest fats. The bile is stored in the gall bladder, and released from there into the intestines.
