Caption: UK at night from the ISS, February 2016. This view looks north-west across London with Ireland in the distance, together with the glow of the atmosphere and the curvature of the Earth. This view was photographed by British astronaut Tim Peake (born 1972). Peake served as a European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut on board the International Space Station (ISS) between 15 December 2015 and 18 June 2016. He was part of Expedition 46 and Expedition 47 to the ISS. During his time on board the ISS, Peake performed several scientific experiments, took numerous photographs of the Earth, and wrote blogs, as part of his Principia mission for the ESA and the UK Space Agency. Photographed on 2 February 2016.
