Caption: Vanadinite crystals. Vanadinite, containing lead, vanadium oxide, and chloride ions, is a rare mineral belonging to the apatite group and the pyromorphite subgroup. It is a secondary lead-chloro vanadate, most usually occurring in the direct vicinity of lead-bearing deposits. Its crystals have a characteristic orange-red colour, and can form attractive tabular crystals of hexagonal form.
