Caption: Priscacara fish fossil. Priscacara is an extinct species of perch. This fossil comes from the Green River Formation in Wyoming, USA, a formation that dates to around 50 million years ago, during the Eocene Epoch. Sediments from one particular location in this formation, the marls at Fossil Lake, provide a wide variety of exceptionally well-preserved fossils, such as this one. This specimen is 20 centimetre long.
