Caption: Guillaume Rondelet (1507-1566), French physician. Rondelet taught medicine in Montpellier, France. He made a considerable contribution to zoology through his study of marine animals, mainly of the Mediterranean. He produced a book on the natural history of fishes, called Libri de Piscibus Marinis (1554–55). Engraving from the 1875 edition of Vies des Savants Illustres.
