Caption: Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of an ependymoma cell (pink) being attacked by chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cells (yellow). Ependymomas are rare tumours of the central nervous system. They arise from the cells lining the cavities (ventricles) of the brain and the central canal of the spinal cord. CAR T-cells are cells from a patient's immune system that have been extracted and modified to recognise and attack the patient's cancer cells, before being reintroduced to the patient. Magnification: x2,000 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
