Caption: Orbital deployment of Galileo satellites. Illustration of the upper stage of an Ariane 5 ES rocket that has ascended above Earth's atmosphere and is jettisoning its aerodynamic fairing in preparation for the deployment of its payload of four Galileo satellites. The European Space Agency's Galileo navigation system will consist of 30 satellites orbiting over 23,000 kilometres above the Earth. It is scheduled for completion in 2020.
