Caption: Orbital deployment of Galileo satellites. Illustration of the payload dispenser of an Ariane 5 ES rocket that has carried four Galileo satellites into Earth orbit. The satellites are being deployed 3.5 hours after launch, two at a time, with the second pair deploying 20 minutes after the first. The European Space Agency's Galileo navigation system will consist of 30 satellites orbiting over 23,000 kilometres above the Earth. This illustration shows the deployment of satellites number 15 to 18. The Galileo network is scheduled for completion in 2020.
