Caption: Galileo satellites launch. Take-off during the VA233 launch at the ELA-3 launch zone at the Guiana Space Centre in French Guiana. An Ariane 5 rocket was used to place four Galileo satellites in Earth orbit. This launch carried satellites 15-18 of the 30-satellite network. The European Space Agency's Galileo navigation system will consist of 30 satellites orbiting over 23,000 kilometres above the Earth. It is scheduled for completion in 2020.
