Caption: Blainville's beaked whale (Mesoplodon densirostris). This whale is found in tropical and warm water worldwide. It is not well documented because it mostly inhabits deep waters, but is thought to feed mainly on squid. It reaches lengths of around 4.5 metres. It is also known as the dense-beaked whale, due to the density of the bone in its rostrum ('beak'). Photographed in the Pacific, near Tahiti in French Polynesia.
