Caption: Timelapse light microscope footage of the developing embryo of the common frog (Rana temporaria). The embryo is still in the egg at this stage. It starts as a ball of cells, but the body elongates over the course of the clip. The head and spinal cord develop, with prominent bulges on the sides of the head about the form the tadpole's gills.
