Caption: Rockefeller Center, illustration. This complex of 19 high-rise buildings is located between 48th Street and 51st Street, and Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue, in Manhattan, New York City, USA. The development began in 1930 with US financier and philanthropist John D. Rockefeller, Jr (1874-1960). The original fourteen Art Deco buildings from the 1930s are shown here, with the later additions shown in grey (background and lower right). The tallest building in the original complex was the centrepiece, 30 Rockefeller Plaza (260 metres).
