Caption: Constellations and Andromeda. Optical image of the constellations Cassiopeia, Perseus, Cepheus and the spiral galaxy Andromeda (M31, lower centre). Cassiopeia consists of five bright stars forming a zigzag 'W' shape at centre. Perseus is at lower left and Cepheus is at upper right. M31, the largest of the Local Group of galaxies, is around 2.5 million light years from Earth. It contains hundreds of billions of stars.
