Caption: Jose Gomez-Marquez (born 1976), medical device designer and head of MIT's Little Devices lab. Gomez-Marquez moved from his native Honduras to the US to study engineering. In 2005 he entered the MIT IDEAS Competition, for tackling big problems in the developing world with a cheap nebulizer for administering vaccines. His team won, and he went on to win two further MIT IDEAS Competitions. In 2012 he became the director of Little Devices Lab, which designs medical devices that can be used or built in the developing world.
