Caption: Prototheca zopfii is a ubiquitous, achlorophyllic (without chlorophyll) green alga (Chlorellaceae); 2.5% GA fix. This algal parasite is widely present in the environment. It commonly pollutes water vessels and dairy equipment and can cause mastitis in humans and bovines, the latter having negative worldwide impact on the dairy industry. Magnification: x665 when the shortest axis is printed at 25 millimetres.
