Caption: Ben Mottelson and Britta Siegumfeldt, 1981. US-born Danish nuclear physicist Ben Roy Mottelson (born 1926) and his future second wife Britta Marger Siegumfeldt (1936-2014), by the St Croix River, Minnesota, USA. Mottelson's first wife died in 1975. He married Siegumfeldt in 1983. Mottleson spent most of his career in Copenhagen, Denmark, at the Institute for Theoretical Physics. He was jointly awarded the 1975 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on theories of atomic nuclei. Photographed on 22 July 1981.
