Caption: Libra constellation. Optical image of the constellation Libra, the Scales or Balance, the seventh of the twelve constellations or signs of the Zodiac. It is a relatively inconspicuous constellation in the southern hemisphere. Libra was apparently a creation of Roman times; before that it was joined with Scorpius in a double constellation called Scorpius cum chelae, the Scorpion with Claws. The identification with scales may refer to Roman law.
