Caption: Reverse lightning. Ground-to-cloud lightning strikes a cloud above houses by a lake. This lightning occurs when negatively charged particles on the ground (rather than in the cloud) are attracted to positively charged particles in the clouds (rather than the ground), causing an electrical discharge that travels from ground to cloud. Photographed in Wichita, Kansas, USA.
