Caption: Light microscope footage of three different naked amoebae, Cochliopodium sp., Vanella sp. and Mayorella sp., showing their movement patterns in timelapse. The original capturing time was about 5 min. Cochliopodium (starting in the middle) amoebae are partially enclosed with a flexible wall covered with microscales, sometimes with additional spines. The form of the microscales only is visible in electron microscopes. In the light microscope they appear as small dots. When Cochliopodium gets over small particles, the double-layer structure of the flexible wall with microscales can be seen. . Vanella (starting left) is common in freshwater and marina habitats and shows a fan-like form with a broad hyaline area in moving direction. Mayorella (right)is widespread in freshwater and marine habitats, the body is irregular with several pseudopodia in different directions. The amoebae were found in a small freshwater brook habitat. Microscopic contrast method used: differential interference contrast. Captured field width: 0.5mm.
