Caption: XF-73 MRSA drug, molecular model. This drug is in development to be used as a prophylactic against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. It would be used for the nasal decolonisation of patients prior to them entering hospital. XF-73 has been shown to have rapid bactericidal activity against strains of S. aureus that are resistant to antibiotics, including MRSA (Methicillin-resistant S. aureus). Atoms are represented as spheres and are colour-coded: carbon (light blue), hydrogen (yellow), nitrogen (dark blue) and oxygen (red).
