Caption: THG. Molecular model of the anabolic steroid drug tetrahydrogestrinone (THG), also known as The Clear. THG is the most powerful anabolic steroid synthesised (as of 2008). It binds to both androgen (male sex hormone) and progesterone (female sex hormone) receptors. Binding of THG to androgen receptors causes muscle tissue growth, leading to it being used illegally in competitive sports. Overuse of THG can cause infertility in males and females and suppression of the immune system. Atoms are represented as spheres and are colour-coded: carbon (blue), hydrogen (gold) and oxygen (red).
