Caption: Launching Skylark sounding rockets. The clips show the launch sites and equipment used during the Skylark launches. Skylark was a British sounding rocket used between 1957-2005, in a total of 441 launches. Each rocket carried a payload of scientific equipment, which made measurements of various subjects from altitudes between the maximum height of a balloon (around 40 kilometres) and the minimum height of a satellite (120 km). The launch site seen at the start of the clip is Esrange, in the Arctic Circle in Sweden.
